Duties and Responsibilities
  - Manage and maintain the safety of the patients and staff.
 
  - Takes vitals and assists patient in meeting their needs
 
  - Conducts security screening and patient property inventories property.
 
  - Provides orientation to patients
 
  - Educates patients on their rights, grievance process and explains rules and regulations.
 
  - Use therapeutic techniques to de-escalate
 
  - Performs restraints/seclusions when needed to ensure the patient’s safety
 
  - Relocate patients using proper body mechanics.
 
  - Assists patients with activities of daily living and independent living skills.
 
  - Conducts and documents patients’ vitals and reports all questionable results to the RN
 
  - Conducts and documents all BAL, urine drug test and urine pregnancy tests.
 
  - Attends court ordered hearings as needed. 
 
  - Must be willing to be a witness on a court ordered petition ordered hearing.
 
  - Maintain cleanliness of the facility, perform light cleaning of furniture, collects soiled clothing and launders patient clothing when needed.
 
  - Work as a team member with other personnel members to ensure the program is operated in a safe, orderly and therapeutic manner
 
  - Participate as an active member of the treatment team by:
 
  - Attending all clinical staffing sessions,
 
  - Participate in in-service training
 
  - Complete required clinical and administrative documentation
 
  - Develop professional relationships with co-workers, contractors, volunteers.
 
  - Behavioral Health Assessments
 
  - Counseling services
 
  - Group facilitation
 
  - Attend clinical oversight by a BHP
 
  - Writing a progress notes
 
  - Completing an incident report
 
  - Emergency safety response
 
  - Documents patient encounters in EHR
 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  - Knowledge of Crisis Intervention and ability to de-escalate potentially aggressive situations
 
  - Knowledge of Seclusion/Restraint standards, guidelines and techniques; 
 
  - Provide education to patient regarding Behavioral Health diagnosis, medications and treatments
 
  - Demonstrates ability to effectively use therapeutic option theory and technique and can describe and demonstrate their roles and responsibilities.
 
  - Check Patient medication record for accuracy and update as needed.
 
  - Must have patience and good communication skills.
 
  - Adhere to a professional code of ethic and confidentiality.
 
  - Embrace and respect culture diversity.
 
  - Recognize the rights of Patients and their families.
 
  - You are a mandated reporter
 
  Education, Experience and Qualifications
  - A high school diploma or GED or completion of CNA or Patient Care program
 
  - 2 year or more of BHT experience in a psychiatric, mental or crisis intervention facility
 
  - Must have a current Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card, 
 
  - Current CPR and Mental Health 1st Aid certificate
 
  - Current negative TB skin or chest X-ray within the last six months
 
  - Must be able to perform Safe Clinch or other restraint techniques.
